Report from the September Installation Meeting.

Saturday 28th September saw our Installation meeting held at Knowle Masonic Hall. Our new Worshipful Master, Andrew Hare was installed by the outgoing Master, Mark Pierpoint. A great ceremony with a number of visitors, including some from Mike Hailwrood Lodge, another of Andrews’s lodges. The ceremony was followed by a festive board with much humour and entertainment all around. Photos courtesy of Scoop Cottrell.

Report from the July Regular Lodge Meeting.

Saturday 13th July saw the Lodge on the road at Guys Cliffe Warwickshire. A strange but beautiful place as you will see from the photos. The very attractive temple was full with 55 masons from many provinces attending whilst the parking outside was spectacular with an array of classic cars. The meeting was an excellent initiation, with a great welcome to Mark, our new Freemason.
The front part of the old house was destroyed by fire when the film company making Sherlock Holmes, “The Hounds of the Baskerville”, set off pyrotechnics which burnt it down! Once you walk past that you enter a large courtyard where all the cars were parked in a beautiful setting.

July Regular Lodge Meeting 13th July

The outline plan for this particular day, is to run a joint Club / Lodge event at the Guy’s Cliffe Masonic Centre on Saturday 13th July.

The lodge meeting will be an Initiation. A link to book into the lodge meeting will be posted shortly. Please note, to cut down on admin for our hard-working dining secretary, that only bookings (and apologies) made via the link will be accepted.

We really would appreciate a great turnout of cars and bikes, to be on show in the court yard and or lawned area. There will be a prize for the vehicle that has been either driven or ridden, the greatest distance.

Please bring along your wives, partners, family and friends for those not participating in The Lodge Ceremony, subject to demand, it is intended to provide a mini bus to take them to Stratford upon Avon. When at Stratford, and subject to demand, a most enjoyable 45 minute boat trip is an option. Following that, maybe a spot of lunch in town and some retail therapy, before returning to Warwick mid-afternoon when the Lodge members will have finished their business. Costs and booking details soon. We are hoping will be an Annual Event.

Update from Peter Hughes, the Lodge Secretary:

Our next lodge meeting will be in the unique venue at Guys Cliffe just outside Warwick. The meeting will be an Initiation “with all the trimmings and a full Festive Board”, (not White Table)

After the event, we will have a “concours competition” for classics attending and there will be a marquee so we can enjoy a (hopefully) sunny afternoon in idyllic surroundings

We are hoping that many members and guests might want to bring along their partners, friends and family so we have therefore tentatively arranged for a Minibus to take them to nearby Stratford on Avon where there will be a Riverboat Cruise followed by the chance for some retail therapy and/or to get some lunch.

However, this idea is totally dependent on support to be viable.

We therefore need to know as soon as possible and absolutely no later than Friday 28th June if you would like to book this outing and if so how many people..??

Depending on numbers the all-in cost will be in the range of £25 per person

Please to ease the administrative burden reply as soon as possible by email to me at peterchristine@aol.com

Lodge Meeting held on the 5th May

Saturday 4th May, we descended on the Leicester Masonic centre for the first travelling meeting of the year. Under the mastership of WBro Mark Pierpoint, we held a double passing ceremony for Bros Chris Milbank and Jamie Austin. 55 members and guests attended to witness a splendid ceremony. The Masonic centre is huge with excellent facilities and we used the grand temple. The organ has to be seen to be believed! The festive board was its usual lively affair with much humour. Thanks to Scoop Cottrell for the photos.

23rd September 2023 – Installation Meeting at Alderson House, Warwick

What a wonderful and memorable day we had at Alderson House in Warwick. Our Installation ceremony was dignified but good humoured.

Mark Chafer the Installing master was faultless ( but then we have come to expect that!) supported by his Officers. The incoming Master Mark Pierpoint was excellent and clearly proud and looking forward to a great year for which he has great plans including a proper Lodge meeting within the amazing Silverstone motor racing museum

We had well over 50 present and some had travelled notable distances to be with us.
We were especially honoured to have the Provincial Grand Master Philip Hall as presiding officer and he was in fine form.
We are very lucky to have such an enthusiastic and harmonious Lodge and long may it continue and our new Master will be working hard to ensure that and we wish him well and will support to the fullest

29th July 2023 – Regular Lodge Meeting at Long Eaton

The Lodge has been out to the province of Derbyshire for today’s meeting held at Long Eaton Masonic centre
A first class passing ceremony for Bro Niall Chafer of Stonegate Lodge 6118 west riding Yorkshire by his father Mark the WM of the Square Wheels Lodge … not one word did the WM miss out, absolutely excellent. He was ably assisted by the stand in SW Howard Smith the AstPGM for Warwickshire who must have been under great pressure as the brethren were just waiting for him to make a mistake ! They were disappointed he was excellent. Doug Squires one of the bookends delivered the long version of the 2nd degree tool perfectly…. In all, as good a ceremony as you will see.
Being a motoring lodge we then enjoyed a run out to Calke Abbey in Derbyshire a stately home in a state of arrested decay.
Many thanks to Phil Cottrell for words and photo.

12th July 2023 – Lodge Tie Approved

17th February 2020 – help for multiple sclerosis

Peter Manning, APGM, was delighted to present a cheque in the sum of £1000 to Paul Hampton, Fundraising Officer and Events Organiser for the Leamington/Warwick Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society. This was from money raised during his year as Primus Master of the Square Wheels Lodge No 9966.

Also pictured is Lottie Campion who is in the early stages of MS.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects your brain and spinal cord. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves (myelin) is damaged. This causes a range of symptoms like blurred vision and problems with how we move think and feel. More than 130,000 people in the UK have MS. In the UK people are most likely to find out they have MS in their thirties, forties and fifties. But the first signs of MS often start years earlier.
